2019 reunion location set
The 15th Medical Battalion Association will hold their next reunion in San
Antonio, TX from 3-7 Apr 19. Our host hotel will be the Holiday Inn Market
Square where we have a very generous contract. The hotel is providing a complimentary
welcome reception on Wednesday evening, 3 Apr 19 (1700-1800) to include
beer, wine, soft drinks, water, and chef’s choice of 1 hot and 1 cold hors d
‘oeuvres selection. The room rate will be $99/night, which includes a
complimentary hot buffet breakfast each day with each room in
our own private breakfast room. A great way to start a day of sightseeing.

The hotel is three blocks from San Antonio Market Square (old Mexican
market) and famous Mexican restaurants, six blocks from the Riverwalk, and
10 blocks from the Alamo, a five-minute walk. We will also have a
complimentary shuttle van that will bring folks anywhere in the city and
then pick them up when called during the hours of 1500-2100.
During the day and evening we will receive a 20% discount on meals in
the hotel restaurant as well as in the lounge.
Canine Friendly Accommodations
You dog lovers (and I'm not talking about your date to the senior prom!)
have two La Quintas within a couple of blocks of the reunion hosting hotel.

Antonio traditionally fill up fast, so if you think you're going to make

Ground Transportation From SAT
SuperShuttle will provide airport rides to and from San Antonio
International Airport (SAT) to any address in the Greater San Antonio area
and beyond with service operating 24 hours daily. SuperShuttle fares are
flat rate with downtown shared-ride service at $15 one way/$28 round-trip.
Rideshare - Approved rideshare services (or ride-hailing or ride-booking
service companies) meet customers on the outer commercial curbside lower

Group Tours and Events
You will have the opportunity to join four group tours during the
reunion. Two tours will be offered each afternoon. Registration for the
tours will come soon.
Afternoon Tour One - The Airmen's Museum & Historic Aircraft on Lackland
AFB. It displays 43 preserved American military aircraft, mostly
Besides the collection of Cold War era aircraft common to
many U.S. base museums, the Lackland facility is home to an unusual
number of rare machines from the World War II and immediate postwar era,
including a Boeing B-17, North American F-82, Republic P-47N, and North
American P-51H. We will carpool the 10-minute drive from the hotel to
Lackland AFB. Tour takes 1-1 1/2 and will be indoors and outdoors.

will leave the hotel at 1300. Cost: Free.
Afternoon Tour Two - San Antonio Sightseeing Segway tour is
geared towards gliding around downtown as your local guide highlights
the incredible architecture of our city, famous landmarks such as the
Alamo, and other scenic and historical areas of downtown San Antonio.
Minimum age is 14-years-old and minimum weight requirement is 100
pounds. Maximum weight of 275 pounds. Guests should be able to climb
stairs without assistance and stand for at least 1 hour. Guests will be
provided with a helmet and receive group Segway training as well as
individual training. Segway tour is approximately 90 minutes in length
including training. Group will leave hotel at 1330. Cost: $49/person.
Afternoon Tour One - US Medical Department Museum on Fort Sam
Houston. The AMEDD Museum campus occupies 7 acres of grounds, including
the main museum building, a covered, restored hospital train car, and
two pergolas, one containing modern wheeled ambulances and one
containing helicopters. A Medal of Honor Walk recognizes the 50 Medal of
Honor recipients from the U.S. Army Medical Department. Self-guided tour
usually takes 1 hour. Group will leave hotel at 1300 and carpool the
15-minute drive to Fort San Houston. Cost: Free.
Afternoon Tour Two - iFLY is indoor free-fall parachuting in a
wind tunnel where the dream of flight becomes a reality. You’ll fall in
love with the sensation & the freedom that comes with floating on air
and when you do, Your instructor will lead you into the Flight Chamber
and assist you while entering, flying, and exiting. Remember what you
learned during training to help achieve proper technique. The iFLY
experience, from check-in to check out, Participants must by 260 pounds
or less and lasts roughly 1.5 – 2 hours. Cost: $60/person.
night's get-together will be at the
County Line BBQ located in downtown San
Antonio on the historic River Walk. It's a great place to enjoy a plate of
legendary Texas bar-b-q and an ice cold beer or margarita. The County Line
River Walk features an awesome river side patio and open-air bar. Inside the
funky Texas roadhouse atmosphere will make you feel like you've wandered out
into the Texas Hill Country. Come'n gettcha some real Texas BBQ!
Friday evening will be a get-together at
Mi Tierra, the famous Mexican
restaurants at El Mercado – or Market Square. Mi Tierra, in the heart of San
Antonio’s historic has become a downtown Tex-Mex staple for tourists,
locals, and visiting celebrities alike, drawing families to celebrate
birthdays, or mourn the death of a loved one. Mi Tierra dishes up breakfast
specials such as chilaquiles famosos, steak and eggs, and huevos a la
mexicana for breakfast, plus tacos, beef enchiladas and chalupas for lunch
and dinner. There's a full bar with margaritas, beer and wine. Mi Tierra
often hosts live musicians to create a fun dining experience.
